April 2005

Little did we know but we have a U.S. National Champion in our club!

Congratulations to Bryce Hodgson for taking 1st PLACE in the U.S. National Land Yachting Championships held in Nevada last month. Bryce won the “Production Division” and totally SMOKED the competition at over 60 mph. You know those “Kiwi’s”, they kick butt in yachting on land AND sea!! Way to go Bryce!!

Also a big “ATTA BOY” goes out to Wally Corey. During the tournament on Saturday March 19th, he scored an eagle on the #2 hole of the North Course by chipping in from about 30 yards out. Not often do you see an eagle at Oaks North. Way to go Wally!!

Message from the “PREZ”

According to the USGA, the odds of a player beating his course handicap by 8 strokes is estimated at 1,138 to 1. The odds of a player accomplishing this feat twice is 14,912 to 1. To put that into perspective, if the average player posts 21 scores a year, then he would have to play 710 years to beat his course handicap by 8 strokes twice! Read the complete article at:

March tournament results: 2-Man Best Ball.

Drawing was won by Rick Lewis. (Do you see a patten here?)

The April tournament will be held on Saturday the 16th .

It will be the 1st Annual “WWTYWYGT” (We Will Tell You When You Get There) Tournament. Will it be a “Shootout”? The String Fling (NO)? Odd or Even holes? Lowest Putts? Highest Score? How Many Houses Can You Hit? Who knows? But it will still be a great time!!
