The PGA “West Coast Swing”
is in full force in Hawaii, San Diego, Palm Springs, Scottsdale AZ and now in
Norcal at Pebble Beach. As always, what a great Buick (the fog, pea soup) Open we had at Torrey Pines. Tiger duffing
his shot on 18, chipping up, and then draining the 15 foot downhiller to win.
As always, great exposure for San Diego. Check out the Fiesta Golf Club website
at www.fiestagolfclub.com for
incredible pictures by Rick Lewis from the Buick Invitational. Rick captured
pic’s of all the top golfers in the world. Tiger, Phil. Ernie, Sergio, Jasper,
Freddie, and some great vista shots of Torrey Pines!!
Congratulations to Harley
for his hole in one on #2 on the East Course Sat. January 29th. And
not to be out done, yours truly got his FIRST a hole in one the next day on #11
at Lawrence Welk. I know I speak for Harley when I say: WHAT A RUSH!!!!!
Let’s all welcome our new
members Wally Corey and Stephen Williams. Just so you guys know, for your
initiation you are required to play this tournament day with Serge and Cappy.
If you survive THAT, then you’re in the club.
Winners of the January
“New Years Hangover Stableford Tournament” were: 1st Place: Harley
Jines. 2nd Place: Terry Boyll. 3rd Place Bob Pavon.
Closest to the Pins went to Rick Lewis and Bob Pavon.
The February Tournament
will be the annual “3 clubs and a putter”. As the name suggests, you are
allowed 3 clubs and a putter in your bag for the entire round. Please leave all
other clubs in your car. You can “BUY” up to two additional clubs for $5.00
each. If you wish to buy additional clubs, they must be purchased BEFORE play
begins. See Terry Boyll to purchase additional clubs. According to the rules of
golf established by the USGA, you CAN NOT post this score.
Just an FYI. I have been in touch with J.C. Resorts
AND Lloyd Porter at Oaks North regarding the SCGA computer. While J.C Resorts
was very concerned and apologetic, Mr. Porter was not. He was VERY upset that a
“FIESTA MEMBER” complained to corporate!! Well, that Fiesta member was ME. How
would Mr. Porter feel if he belonged to a club and was not able to post scores
for over two months? This situation needs to be addressed and until it is, I
will not let it rest. My next step will be to take it up with the SCGA.
Thanks
to Bob, the computer at Oaks North is now working and we can resume posting our
scores.
You
can post up to 2 scores per day to catch up with the rounds that you weren’t
able to post while the computer was down.
